The builder left a 'meh' small squarish fixture (no doubt a cost cutter) to provide light right outside our sliding door which exits at the back of our house. Besides occasional grilling on the undersized patio, this area isn't seeing a lot of use, but when I saw this new fixture, it reminded me of the style of our lights which are the nicer ones at the front of the house. The one being reviewed lacks some mounting bracket flourishes and flat beveled poly windows, but as they won't be seen at the same time, the similarities will be noticed more than differences.
For installation, this fixture was a bit 'fiddly' to have to adjust the length of the screws which take the black decorative cap nuts holding the main fixture, but all else was standard easy electrical installation, plus a bit of caulking for rain protection (best to not seal the bottom in case any drainage is needed).
As for construction, the overall fixture is nice quality, with the flat black parts made of some lightweight metal (heavy is undesirable for normal mounting) and painted (maybe powder-coat?). The panes seem to be a glass-like slightly curved plastic (also lighter than glass and nicely clear). The socket is standard 'Edison base' E26 with a sticker which says to use not greater than 60 Watts (incandescent, though in the US those are usually unavailable), and it's unlikely any LED bulb of dimensions allowing it in the fixture could require anywhere near this maximum rating.
Note that this fixture is simple wired lamp (i.e., bulb) socket with no features built-in such as dimmer, switch, light detector, motion detector, etc. Other features would require additional gadgets (as expected); though any of the impressive E26 base accessorized bulbs available today can easily add other functions.
